Jonathan is a counselling psychologist in private practice in London, where he helps clients think about their experiences in an integrative and creative way. He is co-founder of Moult Coppin, which provides consultancy services to organisations in the City.
In his previous career, Jonathan spent over 20 years as a banking and capital markets lawyer in the City and Hong Kong. He was a partner in two preeminent global law firms, advising international corporates and some of the world’s largest financial institutions on a range of financings and offerings. In addition, he was seconded to two major European law firms in Amsterdam and Frankfurt. He retired from private practice in 2006.
Jonathan moved away from the full-time practice of law in stages, focusing progressively on family life and well-being; this included being a full-time dad for a period of time and then developing a private investment office in Java and Bali, Indonesia, where he lived for 2 years with his family.
Upon returning to London, Jonathan undertook a masters (MSc) and then a doctorate (PsychD) in psychology, qualifying as a counselling psychologist, which included extensive clinical training within the public health system, particularly focusing on psychodynamic psychotherapy. He is a member of the British Psychological Society and a Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Jonathan was born in Calcutta/Kolkata, spending his early childhood in India before moving back to England with his family. Growing up in North Yorkshire, Jonathan played a lot of sport and drums in a band, before studying law at university and qualifying as a solicitor.
While living in Hong Kong for over 10 years, Jonathan renewed his interest in Asian cultures, practicing Vajrayana/Tibetan Buddhism, as well as Taoist health practices such as chi-gung, tai chi and aspects of traditional Chinese medicine.
